The company behind Basalthold, the one product it rents, how each price is set against a dated survey, and the things it chooses not to do.

**Quick answer — Who runs Basalthold, and what does it rent out?**

## What is Basalthold, in one statement?

The company sums Basalthold up in a single statement. It is quoted unchanged wherever the brand introduces itself:

> Basalthold rents storage dedicated servers in Amsterdam, Bucharest and Chisinau, paid in crypto with no KYC: no ID, no selfie, no documents. Each server is a whole physical machine with 24 TB to 160 TB of hard drives for one customer, delivered with blank data drives and root access, for backups, archives, file sync and self-hosted object storage. On 2 November 2026, prices ran from $110.99 per 30 days for 24 TB to $561.39 for 160 TB ($3.50 per raw TB). It is run by DomaineGoat LLC, a company registered in Panama, keeps no logs and never asks for your encryption keys.

**Basalthold sells capacity, not a platform: one physical machine full of hard drives, handed to you with root access.** What you build on it is yours: a restic repository, a Proxmox Backup Server datastore, a Nextcloud instance or your own S3 endpoint.

## Who is behind Basalthold?

DomaineGoat LLC operates Basalthold and is the party you contract with. Basalthold is run by DomaineGoat LLC, a company registered in Panama and bound only by Panamanian law. Each datacenter that houses a server follows the law of its own country.

We name the company, not individuals. This site carries no team page, no founding story, no reviews and no customer counts. It publishes what you can check instead. Prices show the day they were surveyed, and each rival's figure links to the page it came from. The rules sit in the [terms](https://basalthold.com/terms/ "The contract for renting a Basalthold storage server") and the [privacy policy](https://basalthold.com/privacy/ "What Basalthold keeps and the logs it never writes").

## What does each hold include?

A hold is one storage server, rented whole. Every drive, the processor and the memory belong to your machine alone: no other customer stores data on them. The operating system sits on its own SSD (two mirrored SSDs on the larger holds); the data drives arrive blank and unpartitioned, so you can build ZFS, an mdadm array or a set of independent disks. If you want the team to prepare a RAID 6 or RAID 10 array before delivery, say so to support before the server is handed over.

### The four holds

| Hold | Data drives | System disk | Processor | Memory | Traffic | Per 30 days |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Hold 24 | 2 × 12 TB HDD | 480 GB SSD for the system | Intel Xeon E-2176G, 6 cores / 12 threads | 32 GB DDR4 ECC | 40 TB per 30 days | $110.99 |
| Hold 40 | 4 × 10 TB HDD | 512 GB NVMe for the system | AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 6 cores / 12 threads | 64 GB DDR4 | 60 TB per 30 days | $201.09 |
| Hold 100 | 10 × 10 TB HDD | 2 × 480 GB SSD for the system, mirrored | Intel Xeon Silver 4210R, 10 cores / 20 threads | 128 GB DDR4 ECC | 120 TB per 30 days | $377.05 |
| Hold 160 | 10 × 16 TB HDD | 2 × 480 GB SSD for the system, mirrored | AMD EPYC 7302P, 16 cores / 32 threads | 128 GB DDR4 ECC | 200 TB per 30 days | $561.39 |

Every server has a 1 Gbit/s port with a monthly traffic allowance (Hold 24 40 TB, Hold 40 60 TB, Hold 100 120 TB, Hold 160 200 TB), one dedicated IPv4 address and an IPv6 /64; going past the allowance never triggers an automatic bill. No setup fee is charged, neither on the first order nor on a renewal.

Systems: Pick Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux, Proxmox VE, or Proxmox Backup Server for a ready backup target. Windows is not offered. Every hold costs the same in all three cities. Terms, discounts and the checkout are on the [Basalthold pricing page](https://basalthold.com/pricing/ "Four holds, their drives, terms and prices per 30 days"). If you need the most raw space, start with [renting a server with 100 TB of disk](https://basalthold.com/100tb-storage-server/ "Where to rent 100 TB or more of hard drives, paid in crypto").

## How does Basalthold set its prices?

A dated, sourced survey of competing storage servers fixes every price. The rule in full: Each hold is priced 25% under a named reference server, rounded down to the cent (prices read on 2 November 2026): Hold 24 against Mangohost's “HDD0 Dedicated Server” at $147.99 a month; Hold 40 against OffshoreDedi's “Server: 40TB Storage” at $268.13 a month; Hold 100 against OffshoreDedi's “Server: 100TB Storage” at $502.74 a month; Hold 160 against OffshoreDedi's “Server: 160TB Storage” at $748.52 a month. The reference is the comparable storage server with the smallest monthly price among 5 hosts that take crypto without asking for ID at signup: at least the hold's raw hard-drive capacity, a floor of cores and memory (Hold 24: 4 cores and 16 GB; Hold 40: 6 cores and 32 GB; Hold 100: 8 cores and 64 GB; Hold 160: 8 cores and 64 GB), a port of 1 Gbit/s or more, at least 10 TB of traffic, one IPv4 address, monthly billing and stock shown. Processor age is not counted, since most storage servers on sale run processors from 2012 to 2017; setup fees are spread over twelve months; euro prices use 1 EUR = 1.1172 USD (ECB, 2026-10-30). We do not claim to be the cheapest at every capacity: sellers outside that pool list storage servers down to $1.30 per raw TB (NetDynamics24, same day).

**Of 23 storage-server sellers Basalthold checked on 2 November 2026, 16 accept crypto. Only 5 sell one payable in crypto without ID, in stock and by the month.** Those 5 hosts set the reference prices below.

### Each hold against its named reference server

| Hold | Basalthold per 30 days | Reference server | Host | Comparable hosts | Basalthold is lower by |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Hold 24 | $110.99 | $147.99 a month | Mangohost | 5 hosts | 25% |
| Hold 40 | $201.09 | €240.00 ($268.13) a month | OffshoreDedi | 2 hosts | 25% |
| Hold 100 | $377.05 | €450.00 ($502.74) a month | OffshoreDedi | 1 host | 25% |
| Hold 160 | $561.39 | €670.00 ($748.52) a month | OffshoreDedi | 1 host | 25% |

*Prices checked on November 2, 2026.*

Prices read on the hosts' public order pages. 1 EUR = 1.1172 USD (ECB, 2026-10-30).

Two limits, stated plainly. The two largest holds each had a single comparable server in the pool, so their reference rests on one host. And hosts outside the pool list lower prices per TB: NetDynamics24 at $1.30 and Hetzner's server auction at $1.72. Neither offers crypto payment without ID on the pages we read. The whole survey is on [how much a rented storage server costs per TB](https://basalthold.com/storage-server-price-per-tb/ "Price per TB of storage servers, surveyed 2 November 2026"), and the method on [how we work](https://basalthold.com/how-we-work/ "How Basalthold prepares servers and runs its price survey").

## What does Basalthold not do?

Some things are left out on purpose; better to know before you pay.

- **Backups of your data:** A storage server is not a backup of itself: we keep no copy of your data anywhere else, so a second copy in another place stays your job.
- **A remote console:** There is no IPMI or KVM-over-IP access for customers; reboots and reinstalls you request in the dashboard are carried out by the team.
- **A ready-made array:** the data drives arrive blank; no hardware RAID is promised.
- **Instant setup:** delivery takes 72 hours at the most after your payment is confirmed. Surveyed sellers that state a setup time give a median of 24 hours.
- **DDoS protection:** No DDoS protection is promised beyond what the datacenter network does by itself.
- **Windows, Monero and Lightning:** none are offered.
- **A free trial:** There is no free trial; Hold 24, the smallest hold, costs $110.99 for 30 days.
- **Outgoing mail on port 25:** Outgoing mail on port 25 is blocked on every server for good, against spam; ports 465 and 587 to mail providers are open.
